REMARKS BY THE GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING-IN-CHIEF.
A satisfactory report on the whole. 5 Marksmen and 9 First-Class Shots
out of the 19 who fired the Regular Soldiers' Course is quite creditable. I
should like to see this number (19) increased, and hope that it may be possi to find time to exercise all those who qualify. The provision of a 30 yards Range which is now nearly finished will be a great help in Musketry Trainin

I have the honour to forward the following report on the
Volunteer Camp at Hanghau, New Territories from 9th to 18th Jany.
1914. I also forward a duplicate sopy (with accounts attached)
for the information of His Excellency the Governor.
1. Members.
Out of a total strength of 21 offisers and 271 other ranks
(men absent on leave having been deducted)21 officers and 210
other ranks attended Camp. Of these 87 attended for 5 days or eve:
over and 144 for a shorter period.
2. Work Carried out in Camp.
Programme of work was as follow:-
(1) All Units.
Daily Parades
8.15 a.m. to 9.45 a.1. 10.0 a.m. to 12.0 noon 2.0 p.m. to 5.0 p.m.
At these parades instruction was given in the technical work of
the various Sections in the morning, and general instruation in
Skirmishing to. in the afternoon.

Practices 1 6 inclusive.
3. Gun Practice ato.
(a) 5" B.L.Howitzer and 10 pdr B.L.Gun Practice was carried out
by the Artillery Battery on 15th, 16th & 17 January.
(b) Field Firing was carried out by the Maxim Gun Sections on
three days.
4. Inspection by I. E. the G. 0. 0. South China.
The G. 0. C. inspected the men at their work on 17th January.
5. Inspection by C. R. A.
The C. R. A. inspected the Artillery Battery at Gun Practice on 15th, 16th & 17th January,
